Why the name “PlanetSolar II”? This solar power plant has a capacity similar to that installed on the “PlanetSolar” boat, which completed the first solar-powered circumnavigation of the globe between 2010 and 2012. Of similar size, this solar power plant has been named PlanetSolar II in honor of its seafaring predecessor!
The PlanetSolar II power plant is installed on the roof of the MPS Micro Precision Systems AG factory in Biel (Switzerland). With a solar panel surface area of 530 m², PlanetSolar II has a capacity of 101 kW.
